When a visitor enters your site, it’s important to show him that you have the content he’s looking for. Sounds like a no brainer, but you would be surprised how many sites miss this crucial point. Most sites talk about their product and completely ignore the visitor. In doing so they risk losing the visitor and losing their ranking.
Google can see when visitors leave as soon as they enter your site. And click throw rate is one of the most important factors in search engine optimization. Not to mention the damage to your reputation. If a visitor saw content that doesn’t match his query you can be sure he will not come back.
So what can you do?
The first thing I would advise is to look at your site as a new visitor. If you can’t do that ask someone you know to check it, and ask them to be blunt. Better to get a negative feedback from a friend then to lose potential customers that will not let you know why they left.
The equation is simple, visitors have to know, like and trust you before they buy anything. In order to achieve this effect you have to give them what their looking for, and their looking for content. most businesses don’t know that over 70% of visitors are looking for answers, even if they do want to buy something. Questions like, is this product for me? what do people think about it? and is this price fair? In giving them this information you get them to trust you.
Now lets go a step further. To get your visitor to like you, give them additional information. what other product might solve their problem. Maybe it’s something cheaper. Don’t just think of making a quick sale, think how to keep this visitor for the long run. Now that you gave your visitor all the information they need, and suggested something to help them and maybe save them some money. You can tell them about yourself, who are you, how long are you in your chosen field. And most importantly, what makes you a professional.
