Think of your website as a store and the traffic coming to it as you walk in customers. Can you really depend on them? What if it rains? What if some other store is having a sale? Know your limits with facebook messenger

I don’t know about you. But I get a lot of advertisements with facebook messenger lately. And the face that they made a different app for the iphone is just more annoying. When your trying to get someone to buy from you make sure you don’t disturb them. Otherwise the result might just be the opposite.

This type of advertisement make the potential customer feel like he’s being hunted. And my first respond to the messages I got was to report them as Spam. As I’m sure many others did.

Is social media a good platform to advertise on?

for the most part yes, but it’s not for everyone. Social media sites like facebook have the ability to target your demographic in ways search engins never could. Or at least don’t tell us they can. But that doesn’t mean it’s the best option for you. I always try to have more then one traffic steam coming to my site and in that case facebook should defenetly be a consideration. Build an audience not just links and your seo will improve dramatically

I don’t know how many of you remember Alta vista. That was the number one search engine before Google and yahoo. That problem we had back then is that it was too easy to trick the search engine. If you wanted to promote a site for your pizzeria all you had to do is have a page that has the word pizza more then the one ranked under you. The experience trap, why it’s so hard to get into Google’s search results.

why would you want to show up in the top search results in Google? To get traffic right? Problem is Google wants you to have a lot of traffic to get to the top results. Kind of a never ending struggle. Today Google even has a traffic requirement for adsence. This doesn’t mean Seo is dead, but it dose mean you have to go about it in a different way.
